| John Keis | 9/2/2026 | KEIS John Timothy, Age 73, passed away peacefully on 9/2/2026. John was born in St. Paul on October 16, 1952, to Don and Kay Keis (who preceded him in death). He was a devoted husband of over 51 years to his wife Mary Therese (Rechtiene). He was a proud father to his daughter Jennifer and sons John M. (Sara) and Jeff (Susan), and grandfather to Torin and Lily. He is also survived by his five siblings Cindy (Larry) Mitsch, Mary Kay (Kevin) O’Rourke, Bob (Pam), Don (Joan), Pat (Kelly); brother-in-law Jim (Julie) Rechtiene; also survived by numerous loving nephews and nieces. John was a friend to many. John graduated from Cretin High School and the College of Saint Thomas. He worked for 38 years at IDS/Ameriprise in the technology department. He was a longtime resident of Little Canada where he was active as a Recreation Association Leader, council member, planning commission member and Mayor for 8 years. As Mayor, he was known for promoting the city’s history and French-Canadian roots. John loved woodworking, cribbage and spending time with family. He enjoyed playing soccer, softball and broomball in his younger years. He will be remembered for his warm and welcoming personality, sense of humor, dedication to public service, and (lack of) singing voice.
